Cindy (aka Maeve) & Andy (aka Mickey) Cindy and Andy were two cocker spaniel mixes who were found in the middle of a road. They were so badly matted that the woman who found them immediately took them to a groomer. Upon grooming it was discovered that Andy had a wound on his back right leg, it was swollen and infected. Both dogs were extremely loving, and while Cindy was definately the boss and Andy was the shy one, they both would give you kisses and just wanted to be loved. This is their story... Cindy and Andy were loved once upon a time. They had a senior owner that loved them very much. Their owner was getting on in years, and was having a hard time taking care of herself. The decision was made that she needed help in the form of a senior living community. She moved into the facility and asked a family member to take care of her babies. The family member decided to sell the house he was living in and made the decision to put Cindy & Andy in the barn, in a horse stall of the now abandoned house. We are not sure how long the kids were there, but if the grooming of these two means anything.. they were there awhile. Fast forward to August 23rd, 2008. We recieved a phone call from a young lady describing the circumstances on how she came about getting these two dogs. She came in bearing pictures - and the sad tale of these two loving dogs. The shelter manager came in and examined the frightened Andy - observing his injured paw. The dogs were aged at 7 years (tho they looked much older due to their misfortune). The decision was made that when Andy's foot was better they would go up for adoption. Due to the fact they had been littermates, and that they had never been seperated, it was decided that they had to go home together, there was just no way to split them up. On October 11th, 2008 - A very sweet woman named Linda Kennedy came into the shelter. She was looking to make some donations to us. She was telling one of the ladies who works in the kennels about her dog, that had passed away and how much she missed her. The kennel attendant, took her into the ward to look at the dogs. When Ms. Kennedy got to the cage where Cindy and Andy were .. well the kennel worker knew it was love at first site. Ms. Kennedy wasn't sure if she was ready for another dog, let alone two, but the kennel attendant knew they would all be very happy together and told Ms. Kennedy to think about it. For the next few weeks, Ms. Kennedy came in the door, stating, she had "No intention of taking those dogs". The kennel attendant brought the dogs out for her to see, and sure enough, Ms. Kennedy couldnt help herself.. she had to take them. Now they are a family and all 3 of them couldnt imagine life without the others. An extremely happy ending to what started out as a sad, sad story. |
