Ralphie The Great
This is Ralphie! Ralphie was one of our residents here at the shelter who was a staff favorite. Poor Ralphie was scared to death of everything, and it took us awhile to get him to trust the people who worked here. After a time, he became very attached to one of the kennel staff. A woman came in named Christine with her daughter Natalie looking for a companion dog. Ralphie really took a shine to both of them, and Christine fell in love with our little guy. Ralphie has become the king of the house and Christine couldn't imagine life without him. Even though Ralphie is still nervous, and has some "quirks", he is a wonderful dog. Christine gives us updates, and tells us about him all the time. We love it!!
Update - October 2008
Christine had been thinking about what would be best for our pal Ralphie, even tho he loved his family it seemed like something was missing for him. He wasn't lonely exactly, but maybe he would like a playmate, or somebody to show him what being a dog was all about. After much deliberation, she decided that she would start looking for a dog to be with Ralphie and see if that could bring him out of his shell. She babysat a couple different dogs to see what Ralphie would think. He seemed to enjoy the company, of the first dog, however, that dog didn't fit into the family dynamic. So she tried a second dog, and that dog, was not good for Ralphie at all. Christine came into the shelter, she told us what she was looking for - A dog with a fabulous personality and one that would love and adore Ralphie and Natalie.
Little Sadie came in September 22, 2008. She was absolutely gorgeous. This sweet little face and too cute under bite. Sadie was a stray that the Geneva police department found and had us pick up. How could someone not be missing her? So beautiful and such a sweet temperment, it astounds how people could not love their dogs enough to look for them.
Sadies previous owner loss was Christines gain. It was love at first sight for Christine. She brought Ralphie in to meet Sadie. Ralphie seemed to generally be interested in Sadie, he was a little nervous but Sadie let him know that all would be well. Now Sadie and Ralphie absolutely love each other. Christine is very happy with her choice and Ralphie is in absolute heaven.
UPDATE 6-27-09
We heard from Christine with some unfortunate news. Our boy Ralphie passed away. Our hearts go out to Ralphies family. We are all saddened to hear the news. King Ralphie will never be forgotten.
