Emma Lou

Little Emma Lou who and her momWe are often asked how long does an animal have here once it is up for adoption before it is euthanized. We have always stated the same thing: here there is no time limit. We do not euthanize adoptable animals, and once the animal has gone through the process they are here until we find them a home. Emma is the best example of that. Emma who is going to be 7 in 2008, spent 2 full years here until she got adopted. Emma's tale is a sad one, she was seized from a home on January 13, 2006. We received a call that there was a pit bull in trouble, one of our animal control officers went out and discovered Emma on a chain, she was severely emaciated. She was rushed to Macedon Veterinary Care where she was treated for 33 days before coming back to the shelter. Our staff realized she had no love for cats, and only liked a few dogs. We spent alot of time looking for the perfect person to adopt our baby girl. On January 17th, 2008 a young woman came in. She had just lost her dog. She felt it was perhaps time for a new companion as she was feeling the loss of her buddy. When she first saw Emma and heard her story she was hooked. She couldn't help but fall in love with the winning personality, and award winning smile. Now Emma has her own farm to run around on and a new "mom" who adores her and can't imagine life without her baby.
